Thom J. Woodard

Creative Collaborator

A technically skilled and artistically minded award-winning audio professional, Thom J. Woodward has over 25 years of experience producing and engineering radio programs, concerts, theatrical productions, and other live events. He is a musician, a theatrical sound designer, and an audio storyteller. His specialty, however, is editing, mixing, and processing sound for all mediums. He currently teaches audio production and is the audio supervisor at the famed Duke Ellington School of the Arts in Washington, DC.

Over his career, Thom has worked as an audio engineer, producer, and technical director for audio documentaries, directed live radio shows, and produced live events. In addition to being an independent audio and live event producer, much of his career was spent with NPR where he earned two George Foster Peabody Awards – first with the “Wynton Marsalis: Making The Music” series and later for his technical and logistical contribution to NPR’s “Coverage of September 11th.”

He holds a Master of Science degree in Entertainment Business from Full Sail University as well as a BA in Mass Communications from Howard University. Though still working as an independent producer and engineer, Thom is now a dedicated educator who is always looking for new opportunities to develop and grow in ways that will directly and positively impact his students as he prepares them for higher education and careers in sound.
