Alicia Olivo

Creative Collaborator

Alicia Olivo recently graduated from VCU with a BFA in Dance and Choreography and BS in Mechanical Engineering. She began her training at Richmond Dance Center under the ownership and direction of Pam Turner, and continued at the Center for the Arts program at Henrico High School. Alicia has assisted and performed in LiveART, most notably performing a duet with Sarah Bareilles in SPARC’s LIVEART Soul in 2015. She has also choreographed and performed in music videos including DJ Manifesto’s song Mercury. While at VCU, Alicia’s video dance, In Bello, and piece, Dimensions, were presented in VCU Dance NOW concerts and the latter performed at the American College Dance Festival. Her senior project work, Formicidae, received an Outstanding Choreographer award. She has performed in many senior projects, and in faculty works choreographed by Dr. Gaynell Sherrod, Judy Steel, and visiting artist Ching-I Chang Bigelow. She also performed in both MK Abadoo’s youcanplayinthesun and internationally renowned choreographer, Gregory Maqoma’s premiere of He Ran to The Train. Alicia intertwined her skills of engineering and dance to help co-choreograph a duet with a robot and dancer called Amelia and the Machine, which was performed in the spring 2022 VCU Dance NOW concert. Currently, she is working as a project manager at Alfa Laval, is a member of the Richmond based freestyle dance crew, The Brand RVA, and is a teacher and choreographer for Richmond Dance Center.
